Schools will be closing for the summer this May, and then it'll be time for children and their parents to head to DeKalb County Public Library for exciting, special programs and the annual Vacation Reading Program (VRP). VRP promotes the joy and importance of reading and a love for the library for the entire family—babies, children, teens and adults. This year, it will run from Saturday, May 25 through Wednesday, July 31; and to get started with a bang, the Library is having three kick-off programs that will include storytelling, music, crafts and photos as well as an opportunity to sign up for VRP. The kick-offs are:

• 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 30 at the Stonecrest Library
• 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30 at the Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library
• 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1 at the Decatur Library
